Founded in 1882, "Fratii Buzesti" high school ("Buzesti Brothers") represents a landmark in the educational system in Romania. On January 9th 1910 this establishment was given the name of its spiritual patrons, Preda, Radu and Stroe Buzescu brothers. They were outstanding personalities, diplomats and generals, faithful to Michael The Brave (Mihai Viteazul), the first Romanian Prince who, in 1600, united all the Romanian Principalities (Vallachia, Moldavia and Transylvania) into one state.

Having rich traditions which have been growing ever richer, this high school functions in Craiova, the capital of Oltenia - the south eastern region in Romania.

An economically and culturally important center of over 320000 inhabitants Craiova has become well known through its car, electromechanical, aeronautical and electrical engine building industries. The University of Craiova, The Lyrical Theater, The Art Gallery, The History Museum and The Theodor Aman Library range among our country's most worthy educational art and culture establishments.

"Fratii Buzesti" High School, a UNESCO affiliate, has trained young people thoroughly and intensively by the promotion of active didactic methods, of a remarkable programmatic character, that meant to enhance and fully develop the students knowledge, the skills and abilities necessary for their future studies. At the same time our young students are formed in the spirit of humanist values that would lead to a smooth socio-professional integration.

The educational process in structured according to the three levels of studies: primary, middle and secondary.

 

 

The secondary school level consist of two departments: the scientific studies - including profiles such as : Mathematics and Physics (bilingual classes of English and French), Physics-Chemistry, Chemistry-Biology - and humanist studies including modern language classes.

The students of this high school involve themselves into a large numbers of scientific and cultural activities organized by the students clubs or "Fratii Buzesti" Foundation. "F.B." magazine has been published by our school.
