The History of Our School

This cultural establishment is one of the oldest in our city - Craiova. It has a continuous existence of 150 years.
1849 The school begins its activity in the cells of "Saint Apostles" Church , being named "Boy's School No.2".
1867 The name of the school changes into "Boy's School No.3".
1882 The present name of the school is confirmed by the Order of the Minister No.264 dated the 23th of May 1882. This name was given in December 1881.
1908 On the 26th of November the school is moved in the Market Street No.18, in the Parvulescu family's house.
1909 On the 26th of October , the school is moved again in Iancu Iliescu family's houses No.68 Market Street.
1923 On the 25th of February , Ion P. Tuculescu proposes to the General Assembly of the School Committee a new establishment to be built. The General Assembly approves the public subscription. The first donor was the principal Ion P.Tuculescu himself.
1924 The mayor C. Negrescu auctions the building of the school for 1,900,000 lei and begins to build a new establishment.
On the 16th of November the foundation of the school is put, in the presence of the Minister of Education, C. Angelescu , the President of the School Committee.
1925 The official inauguration takes places on the 8th November , when the Bishop Vartolomeu solemnized it.
There have always been found financial sources for a proper activity of the school to complete the state subvention. Thus, the budget of the school year 1944-1945 was made up of:
