"Beaver" Tail

These three graphics show the changing design of the so called "beaver" tail of the F-14. The first design was only used for the first production aircraft and was later changed into an interim change where the dielectric panels were removed. Later on the F-14 fleet was equipped with the standard tail.


Late F-14s generally show the same "beaver" tail as late F-14As (lowest picture), but its ECM antenna is wider (Note: The above picture does not show this difference!)
