Chaff and Flare Dispenser
As all fighter aircraft, the F-14 has the capability to dispense chaffs and flares to misdirect enemy missiles that are shot upon the aircraft. The chaff and flare dispenser is places next to the arresting hook below the "beaver" tail. Usually when not flying a combat mission the chaff and flare dispenser is not fitted to the tail, since flares are considered to be dangerous. Additionally, the F-14 can be equipped with more chaffs and flares by mounting the ECA (Expanded Chaff Adapter).
