| To extend the range and time on station of the Tomcat, a refueling probe was included in the F-14's design. The refuelling probe is not fixed, but retractable. The refueling probe bay door was deleted on those F-14s delivered to the Imperial Iranian Air Force and later it was removed on those Tomcats flying missions in the Gulf war in 1991. |
