Exercise aboard USS
Saratoga - 1937!
During 1937 the squadron changed name to VB-3 due
to a BuAer directive - they were to adopt their
carrier hull number (although many disliked these
frequent name changes) and saw duty aboard U.S.S.
Saratoga (CV-3). Pictured above is an exercise on
Sara - with a Vought SB2U-1 in the background. If
the side code is 3-B-1 (which it probably is)
then this would identify the plane as being flown
by LCDR Jim Wiltsie, CO in late 1937.
