Camelot 100 goes in the drink!

click to see photo!Just a little trivia ... the plane shown here ( Camelot 100 - photo taken 29th July 1975) was the first F-14A from VF-14 to go in the drink due to catapult failure ... I was the plane captain who watched his plane and crew go over the angle deck ... The crew bailed out ok  ... The plane floated past the Big John ( USS John F. Kennedy CVN-67) before sinking ... Oh yea, the pilot was the skipper of the squadron ... commander Lavinder ... back seat man was lt. Recame ... who by the way left the squadron shortly after it was reported that I turned in the canopy jettison pins that he forgot to remove before launch.
