F-14 Tomcat "Fleet Defender"

In the cockpit

Front Seat (F-14 A/B)
The front cockpit of the F-14 Tomcat is typical of contemporary American layout, with a sense of order in a relatively small space. Dominating the forward panels is the square vertical display indicator screen, with the air combat manoeuvring panel above. The head-up display unit sits atop a flat portion of the console top rim. To the right of the VDI are dials covering acceleration and bearing distance heading among others, while at left indicators such as airspeed Mach # and radar altimetere. Side panels cover launch bar, landing gear and flap control at left and arrester hook, display control and elevation lead on the right-hand side.
