The idea to organize an workshop in Romania in the field of Internet Learning takes substance at the Turkyie First Distance Education Conference, November 1996, in Ankara. But the idea is connected with my cooperation with Odd de Presno, the author of The Online World Handbook Resources and the initiator of the KIDLINK, as well as with Lara Stefansdottir from Iceland, and Nic Nistor from Muenchen, Germany. A first step on this direction was achieved at ROSE'96 Conference, Bucharest October 29 - November 2, 1996, in the 'Distance Learning' session (some considerations, in romanian, about this event you can read with a click here). Few words, in romanian, about the DL in Iceland, and about Lara Stefansdottir, you can find by a click here.
Between the participants at the Ankara Conference, it is a pleasure for me to mention the main sustainers of the project, with declared interest to take part at such an workshop:
But, probably, at the first place, Simon Stobart from Sunderland University, UK simon.stobart@sunderland.ac.uk.Romanian Internet Learning Workshop project is a result of our expectation to improve the Internet access in Romania, to extend the educational online basis, being convinced about the importance of the proper communication skills formation for a real civil society.
The reactions from the Net, in the form of e-mail messages, I receive continously in connection with my books and FAQ's, are the primary support for this project.
Recent attacks on different Internet servers, and all debates on the subject 'Metal', proves the missing of Internet education in our country, as well as a proper law. Therefore, in our opinion, such events as RILW and projected CERF meeting, will be very usefull.
