Great web site. Looked for old shipmates from my F-14 days. Wish some of my old Sqd's had a site like yours. Charlie Hodge AVCM ret. ex VF-84, 121, 1, 124(3 tours), 111, 194, 154. Keep up the good work
The VF-24 squadron history you have posted is wrong. VF-24 was originally commissioned as VB-74 on May 1, 1945 and redesignated VA-1B on September 1, 1948, then VF-24 on December 1, 1949 and finally VF-211 on March 9, 1959 when VF-24 and VF-211 switched squadron designations in order to align the squadron designations with their assigned air groups. Your history omits the period of June 1956 to December 1958 when the flew the F3H Demon as well as the period it flew the F11F Tiger. December 22, 1958 VF-24 transitioned from the F3H Demon to the F11F Tiger at NAS Moffett Field. Aircraft that were flown by VF-24 were the SBC Helldiver, A-1 Skyraider, F4U Corsair, F9F Panther, F9F Cougar, FJ-3 Fury, F3H Demon, F11F Tiger, F8 Crusader, and the F-14 Tomcat. John Newlin

Hi John VanWinkle, I remember being run down by an electric cart and the inevitable "PINKBELLY",But P.I. was OKAY!
Proudly served 66-68 when we were known as the Fighting Red Checkertails & flew the F8 Crusaders. We were known as the MIG killer squadron. I was a plane Capt. and worked on the flight deck with Tillery & Fry listed in the guestbook. I was assigned to the squadrons airframes shop when I made 3rd. Good to see some of my Checkertail buddies names listed in the guestbook. We had some good times on those West Pac cruises. Sat. Jan. 27,01 15:10

I just spoke with Ronny Long on the phone today, we were both Renegades in the early to mid 80's. It brought back a bunch of good memories. My wife still gets pissed when i talk about "Navy Stories", as I am sure most people do, but it was a good part of my life.

My Assignment Story Assigned to S-6 division of the U.S.S. Hancock CVA-19, I ran the Avionics Rotable Pool underneath the flight deck for 2 WestPac's 70/71 & 71/72; served squadrons VAQ-129, VAW-111, VA-164, VA-55, VA-212, VF-24, VF-211, VFP-63, VAQ-129 and HC-1. I had tacans, radios, dopplers, altimeters and fire control radar equipment in the pool. Michael J. Johns from Detroit, MI and of VF-24 was TAD to our division and we worked together. We also lifted a few San Miguel's together in Ologapo, PI !

All of us Airframers know that a "sparky" couldn't "tend-bend" his way out of a wet paper sack!!! Ha Ha. Anyways, spent the last 10 mo's of my tour on East Coast with VF-211. Could you correct my father's name on your listing of past Squadron CO's. His name is HJ Post (Harry J. Post), vice WJ Post, and he was CO from July '65 to June '66. As you may know, Daddy passed away last December 9. Thank you, this correction will be much appreciated by our family.

Was a "Fighting Red Checkertail" from August '69 to June of '71. Two WESTPACs on Hancock. Loved the Crusader.

I must admit I am a bit perplexed as to the squadron name. I believe while with the Hancock 1964-1967 the call was Checkmate. Also no mention of that two cruises and subsequently on the Bonnie Dick beginning Feb 67. A damn fine F-8 outfit and easiest to wave. As I relate to CVW-21 quite closely, I believe equal time is due. i cant believe i found this page. i was a Fighting Red Checkertail, from july 68 to june 71. i read all the cooments in the guestbook. i remember so many name that were mentioned, that were in the squadron when i was there. my first tour in the navy, and my most memorable. who could forget three cruises on the hancock? i started as a plain captain, then went to the airframes shop. also flightdeck trouble shooter. did the 70-71 cruise, on beach det, cubi pt(how i did that is another story). if you remember me, send me an email. it was great to read all those guestbook entries. i thought i was back on that old wooden flight deck again. i wish, :-). i retired from the navy in nov,90. having served in VF-24, VF-211(two tours), VF-94, VF-213. plus namtd mirimar. ill be back to this site soon. until then chuck
OS2(SW) Daniel Brunner
Good morning gentelmen, OS2 Brunner here at the Naval Academy. I am writing you becuase I am in need of some sounds and photos for a web site I am constructing for a CDR here at the USNA. CDR Edward "Punk" Carroll is now an instructor here but he was a RIO with various squadrons around the fleet. He has just finished writing a novel that is being published by USNI called "PunksWar" and I am building a better website for him. There currently is a website for his book, www.punkswar.com, but if you were to see it you would see the need to improve it. What I need is mostly sounds. I have heard on some website some communications clips during air combat and I want to include these sound clips on the website to make it more interesting. Comm talk, intercepts, combat communications, AIC/Pilot comunications anything you may have you be great I have found tons of picutures so I think I may be ok in that aspect. If you have ANYTHING else that I might be intersted in could you please forward them to me. Of course if I receive any help from you I will have you as direct link on the website. Thanks for any help you can give me. ----OS2(SW) Daniel Brunner brunner@usna.edu

Ahoy Fellow Sailor; I used to be part of VF-24 Fighting Renegades, and I am trying to find my fellow shipmates from the WestPac '93 cruise. They were on the USS Nimitz. I am part of the USS Nimitz Association's Reunion Committee, and I do need your help finding them, like AO3 Timothy Maximovich. There was a reunion in San Diego, CA last week. There will be another one next year in Norfolk, Virgina. Please help me locate these fellow shipmates. Thanks, Mike Matteri

Rob Boyer "Droopy" 202 finest in the fleet
Just checking the book on yet another boring saturday night. I often look back at what I consider the 4 longest and best years of my life with VF24. Working hard and playing hard was truely something that this squadron lived by. Hell after the squadron was decomed, it took the base almost a year to get all the red check marks off all the public property. Whou could forget the cunning of the "unknown" person that desecrated the battle "E" bird at the gate with a mighty red check! Where are all the good ole boys of old when I was in the squdron, such as Loco Lopez my ex roomate in that shithole of bartracks who put up with my lackluster cleaning ability, or Jim the man that pissed himsef in my brand new truck at my grandmothers house passed out in the cab, then thres the king of all rednecks one of the 2 guys that really kept my spirits up, the man that weighs 105 soaking wet Spiderman. John the friend I miss the most, I hope everything is well and that piece of shit car he bought befor decom is still going, John if you read this, drop me an e-mail. Then theres the fire walker of the 95 christmas party, Mudrock. fire does burn ya know. I no longer whre the uiniform of the Navy, except once a month and 2 weeks out of the year, but I still keep the renegade spirit inside. Yes I do miss being a Plane Captain, and for some strange reason I still know how to launch a bird and how to do a DTA, it just won't get out of my head. Rage on, its better to burn out than fade away. P.S. Chief Selga, keep your finger outta there!!
Carl J. Palermo
Hello again! I was an AD in VF-24 from 76 thru 78. Need to hear from all who was with us during this time. Myself and Sean Barnett would like to get a reunion organized. Hope to hear from everyone!
Joseph F. Ruchala
First time here! Many memories of my time in the Crusader. Well done.
Captain "Spike" Prendergast, USN
Commanded the Renegades from May 89-Dec 90. Highlight of my professional life. First F-14B squadron on the West Coast, and who can forget "The Glorious 4th of August, 1990", when we dropped the very first air-to-ground ordnance off of a fleet Tomcat. That ushered in a great era for the Tomcat, that is still getting better every day...the heroes of the Kosovo Air Campaign and continuing to "hold the line" in Iraq. Proud to have been one of the guys who opened that particular door. Best of luck to all ex-Pageboys and Renegades who "stood the line" since 1959 in defense of this great nation.

I too felt a sadness in my heart to hear the Renegades are no more. Time truly does heal wounds because I have only fond memories my time in VF 24. I also hardly go a day without thinking about something that happened during my stay (82 - 85) By the way, does anyone know if AQ2 Tony Krause has ever made it to watch?! Really enjoyed the site.

Is there a muster list of Squadron members with the dates they served anywhere here? I was in the line crew '65, '66. looking for some "old" friends

Nice to view some of the squadron's photos and review the old days of VF-24. Most lasting memory is seeing the Hancock coming past Grande Island loaded with Vietnamese in 1975. VF-24 played softball while South Vietnam fell. Sad ending to very trying times. Had lots of good memories that will last a lifetime. Played XO to Nichols and Ruchala and still thank John for the opportunity to spend those years with the boys I got to know so well in VF-124 prior to joining the squadron in the PI. Dick Taylor

July 11, 2000: I do have quite a few pictures, articles and memorabilia that i would be happy to pass on if it is posted on the net, preferably on this page. I have the article when the migs were shot down by Aslund, Dempewolf and Tucker. Tucker ran out of missles and shot his down with his cannon.......
YNSN Dick Mient
July 11, 2000: Attached to USS "Bonnie Dick" CVA-31 67-68. Very proudly served with Rich, Bo, Temp, Valdo, Johnston, Burton, Castleberry, Waters, others. "F-8's, though we fly through the valley of death, we will fear no evil, for we are the badest mothers.....". We lost pilots LCDR Tucker, LTjg Dean Smith, LCDR Rex Wood. I understand that LCDR Bartocci didnt make it back after the next deployment. The best 2 years and in some ways the worst 2 years of my life. I was on watch when Oriskany pilot tried to land with bomb on wing and flipped after missing wires and sunk to the bottom of the ocean... We were there when the Forestal tragedy happened... On duty when we lost LCDR Tucker ( I kept that log page and log page from LTjg Smith). Again, I am extremely proud to say I was a member of the "fighting checkertails". Just to see that patch displayed meant a lot to me.

VF-24 March '83-August '85. Made work-ups and cruise on Ranger and made work-ups on Kitty Hawk. Half of Ranger cruise I was in Ranger's AIMD. Remember learning to drive a stick in Lt. "Monk" McCormick's Alpha Romeo Spider in El Centro. We were kicked off El Centro "forever" weren't we? Marine OV-10 Bronco logo zapping I think. CO being called a "pencil neck geek" Red Flag, Yuma, Fallon. AMH Mark Katis from airframes, AZ Carson Howard, AMS Todd Greenberry. Hanger 4. VF-24 hours a day. Night Check working 16, day check working 8, they thought 12 on and 12 off was a bad idea. Officers LCDR Chanik, LTs. Andreasen, Baranek, McBride, McCormick, Nickel, Wood. Ranger cruise though... WORSTPAC, 121 days, goodbye Singapore, Australia & South Korea, wog day, BMCM Hobbs. Good memories

I was in VF-24 in 1961-1964 and at that time VF-24 flew F8U Crusaders. I made a couple of wespac cruises on the USS Midway CVA-41. VF-24 was home ported at the Naval Air Station Miramar San Diego, California. It was a long time ago.

Re the question about why the change from Checkertails to Renegades, I believe that came about because of Master Chief Packy Morgans efforts. Right before I left the outfit, he was talking about changing our flight deck radio designation from "pageboy" (said it was "sissy")to "renegade". Someone must have taken the extra step and changed the whole shebang. Does anyone else remember when we deployed to Fallon and had a squadron party in the sticks somewhere nearby, and "Jaws" Iturriaga came up to CAG Bobby Lee, said "Hey, CAG, here's your lunch." and presented him a paper plate with a cow pie on it? How 'bout when we were in Yokosuka and Chief Squeak fell asleep on a bollard, slid off right on to his face? Looked like he had gone a few rounds! Anyone hear from any of the old pilots or maintenance chief? LCDR Kovaleski, AFCM Packy Morgan, ADCS "L'il Hitler" Hollis, Chief Winge, Chief Squeak, AZ2 Ron Lyons, AE1 Kevin O'Leary, AZ3 Tim Hebbard(hell of an artist Tim was), AZ3 Rick Borges, LCDR Darnell(we used to hang a nut from the overhead in maintenance control, 'cause we knew it made him seasick so he wouldn't hang around too long and he would go back to his stateroom) Remember a certain pilot who would always have a "mach lever no go" gripe if he was flying at night or in the rain? Skipper Vance, where are you now? As of right now, I am awaiting word from the Army about going back on active duty..and they insist I have to go back to boot camp...bummer, at 41, but, might be a bit of fun....really cannot stand the civilian life...after VF-24, spent three years in Drifty-Fifty in PI, a year on the Hawk, got out, went back in and spent another 4 years at AIMD Cubi...Got out again and went to work for Lockheed at NAS Fallon for 8 years...now living in Scottsdale Arizona. Anyone who was in the outfit when I was there, please, drop me a line...e-mail or snail... 3314 N 68th St Apt 241, Scottsdale, Az 85251...thanks, and I remember Bobby the rigger and Doan the AE..drop me a line y'all///

I was a proud member of the "Checkertails" from 1976 to 1979, made two WESTPACS with the squadron aboard the Connie. I was unaware that the outfit had been decommissioned, and very saddened to hear the news. The best fighter squadron in the Navy is gone, part of history, and I am proud to have been a small part of it.

All the best for the pilots in the Squadron!!!

I was an AO-3 in VF-24 in 1957 - 58. We flew the FJ3-M. We were a part of CAG-2 out of NAS Alameda and made a Far East tour the winter of 57/58 on CVA-38, USS Shangri La. This differs with the history I have found on the WEB.

Well you guys have changed the name from the Checkertails to the Renegades and added a "Tomcat" to the old squadron patch but I guess you're still OK. I just found this website 26 years after leaving the squadron (1970-1973) and the USS Hancock (CVA-19) after 242 combat missions in Vietnam. Just out of curiosity, does your safety officer still have any of the "OLD" accident reports from the Hancock cruises? You've probably never really considered a "ramp strike" but it was a fact of life with the F-8 and "27 Charlies". Those accident reports should have some classic pictures. Please let me know

WELL, THIS TIME I SAW A FEW NAMES FROM DESERT STORM THAT I RECOGNIZED. A FEW OF THE BACKSEATERS, CHIEF FRYE AND ONE OR TWO OTHERS. VF-24 WAS THE BEST SQUADRON AROUND IN MY OPINION. AND I WAS AT THE TIP OF THE SWORD IN JAPAN PRIOR TO COMING TO MIRAMAR. THE WORST THING ABOUT MY TIME AS A RENEGADE WAS DUBAI THREE TIMES IN ONE CRUISE! THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE THERE KNOW WHAT I MEAN. EVEN ALL THE LATE NIGHTS WORKING FOR SENIOR CHIEF (CAN'T QUIT BEFORE ALL THE BIRDS ARE UP AND UP) JENNINGS IS A PRETTY GOOD MEMORY, (SORT OF). RAGE ON!!

The Renegade gang was great (1991-1994)I went from AE shop to QA. I tell you QA was a b^%$^, people thought it was easy but "no". I had to answer up to upper chain of command..... Remembering the days of long hours and hard work. There was always the hangar Queen (1 OR 2) When it was that time to get ready for the cruise or detachement, you bet we'll be working long hours. Those long hours paid off, not just training but we were ready as ever. LCDR Garcia took me for a flight on aircraft 201 and that was the best and unforgetable experience flight I have ever flew (The F14A). Although I blank out (on the break)it felt real good. I think he did it intensionaly. HA HA

No offense, but I was a part of this squadron after V.F. 111 was decommissioned, and to be honest with you this squadron sucked. There were a few bright spots like the people t;hat came over with me from 111, and a Master Chief unfortunately I can't remember his name, but besides that there's not much that I can say for this sorry excuse for a fighter squadron. Sorry to be so negative, but I'm just trying to be honest.

Thank you for the job you are doing. Naval aviation has been going down hill every since the "VFA" designation was adopted for the Hornet. The age of fighter domination from the deck of an aircraft carrier may be close to an end, except for it's spirit. Thank you!
Served in VF-24 (Miramar/USS Hancock) July'69 to Sept'70 as an AZ3 in Maintenance Control. I reported from VT-7 (Meridian, MS.) and did one westpac cruise. If any other old timers made this cruise, I would like to hear from you.

It's good to know that spirit of the Renegades lives on. I used to be the LPO for W/C 120 from 1994-1996 ( up until 24 transfered to the east) My only suggestion in these website is to have a section for former Renegades to post their e-mail addresses, last paygrade/rank held at the squadron and from what year to year they were there in that way we have a means of communicating with each other. Currently I'm doing recruiting duty with 3 former Renegades AO1 McNeil and AO1 Espanol. Our Reruiting station is adorn with VF-24 pictures. A very nice site, remember VF-24 and VF-211 from 1967 cruise aboard BHR CVA-31. That is when they got all their Mig Kills. To bad you don't have any shots of the squadron from that period. Please come visit the BHR site there are some shots I think you'll find interesting

I was a RIO in VF-24 from '89-'92, so it's nice to see some VF-24 squadron memorabilia. You have a nice site, although it appears a lot of the info/links are missing. There are some great photos missing from the '90-'91 work-ups/deployment that would be an asset. Maybe I can dig some of them up for you or put you in touch with some folks that have the pictures. I also have seen a cool painting "No Points for Second Place" of a fictitious encounter where a VF-24 F-14 shoots down a MiG-29 (if I remember correctly).

I was last of the "GUNFIGHTERS" and the F-8 onboard Hancock. Then to VF-2, FIRST VF-14 fleet A/C to land at Miramar. I'll never forget "BUG" Roach & Skipper Ruchla, especially teaching them the EX-16 sytem.... Great site, but as a LCDR in VF-24 told me, "The F-8 is truly a fighter pilot's A/C"

I was part of VF 24 in Miramar in 86and 87. I was on the Kitty Hawk when she did her last world cruise before going to norfolk. Mcarthur was my c.o. at the time. I have many fond memories of the squadron, miramar, and the world cruise we took in 1987. I got out in 1988. My last tour of duty was at the NFWS- TOPGUN. Thanks for the website. It was nice to see the insignia again. I wonder how my old friends are and what they are doing now? I pray they are all well!

Former AE1 during the Korean years. I served on the Boxer and Yorktown in the early 50's. VA-24 was redesignated VF-24 on 1 december 1959. A most significant event occured off the coast of Korea on August 6, 1952 when a major fire occured Killing 7 persons and the loss of many aircraft. These were all CVG-2 personal. Ths included the flight surgeon LT. Shropshire. This was indeed a sad day. I just thought I would check in and let you know there was an earlier "VF-24."

For all you guys looking for the squadron patch. I found some in Seattle at Federal Army & Navy Surplus (206) 443-1818, I remember when I turned it over I was suprised to see that it was made in China or Taiwan. I have no idea if they ship or not. It's the twin tailed Tomcat in front of the crest with a checkmark (straight not hooked) and red and black squares, says VF-24 on the bottom. I saw it there in December of 98. I was with the Fighting Renegades from 1981 to 1984, participating in in the 81-82 WestPac (USS Constellation) and 83-84 WestPac (USS Ranger). During those times we called the squadron "VF-24 Hours a Day," referring both to our readiness and the long hard hours we worked. I was saddened to hear the squadron was decommissioned in '96. I was with VF-24 as a AO and helped load the 20MM and Winders for all the mig kills that VF-24 got. CDR Issacks was my C.O. and AOC Smith was my Ord cpo. I have some old pics of me and AO1 roberson posing by the ventral fins of a F-8C with the migs kill symbols on it. The F-8C pilots would write a gun gripe as "rootie toot toot, the guns don't shoot. What a rush!!! The gunfighter was the last of a breed.

Great page and great story, but you didn't start at the begining .VF-24 came from the east coast as part of CAG-2 at the begining of the Korean War. Thats the one few remember. I was transferd to the squadron in 1952 and made their 2nd cruise onboard the Boxer CV-21 and later, the third cruise on the Yorktown CV-10. I wasn't there for the first cruise on which they flew F4U corsairs. The second trip we stepped up to the new hot jet of the time, the Grumman F9F-2 Panther. Prior to our third trip we were blessed with the brand new, swept wing, Grumman F9F-6 couger and were the first to arrive on line so equipped. By then the peace talks had begun so the cougers were never really tested, but man they sure looked good. I was discharged in Oct. 1954. The air group was at Alameda. I had no idea what happened to the squadron after that until now. I wonder if there are any more old farts that were part of Fight'n Fighter Squadron 24 "Old One Eye"? Our patch was a pirate with a patch over one eye and a knife in his teeth. The last skipper I'm aware of was Commander "Duke" Windser

I was in vf-24 when it was the checker tails. My navy time was 1974-1978. I was assigned to vf-24 out of a school as we got rid of f-8s. I have had a great career since my navy training, but i still miss those night time maint turns. I was an AE-2 when I got out. Brad

Great Page! I was a member of VF 24 back when ships were wood and men were steel. (1971-1974) We were known as the Checkertails then and flew F8J's. Made two WestPacs. Worked nights in the airframes shop on one and was the Airframes Troubleshooter on the other. Hope to hear from other members from that era.

I was a Plane Captain in VF-24 on the '67 cruise. I believe my bird's side # was 443. What's this "Fighting Renegade" stuff? Must be a Tomcat thing. We were known as "Fighting Red Checkertails", and the patch didn't have a tomcat on it , naturally. We flew F8-C Crusaders, one helluva good fighter. I think that cruise was on the Bonnie Dick.
P Burton, AQ2 '82-'84
Bravo Zulu guys; Great page. I have one or two fond memories of FITRON 24 from 82 - 84. Hey, AQ2 Padilla! I remember the CO punching out! That was "Splash" Switzer on my 1st Connie Cruise. Who could forget the great times on Deathpac 83? The great trip to Chiquita station, 121 days on station in the IO, the start of the Tanker War, and the USS Ranger's impression of the Forrestall? All that beat a few Austrailian liberty calls, didn't it? Good to see a few former shipmates still kicking. Check your six!

I meant to put some comments before but didn't get them in. I was a checkertail from Jan. 70 to March 73 when VF-24 was on the Hancock (CVA-19). I was sorry to hear the the squadron was decommissioned. I'm trying to find out what happened to the Hancock (if it was scrapped or what). I was an AQ3 for most of my time in VF-24. I worked for Chief O'Brien. Lots of good memories (a few bad like everyone else), and good friends. Would like to hear from any of the vets from my era.

Hello my fighting Renegades, I was an airframer from day one. '87 to '90. Learned everything about F-14's from AMH1 Viray. Found my way around the Nimitz, and spent many hours on deck. Still think about the Navy, and the people in V.F.24. The good times outway the bad. Made a few friends, some close, some turned out to be nothing. Hope to hear from past SHIPMATES! Ya'll take care, press on, and don't forget about the FOG walk-down tomorrow. Be sure to inventory your tools, and call Q.A. before you are finished!!!

Member of VF-24 from Aug. !988-July 1990. Served mostly as Trouble Shooter, but did spend some time in Airframes (night check). Much time spent on USS Nimitz flight deck. Unfortunatly some of that was putting out fires that engulfed A-6's & A-7's put under the GUN of shody maintinence practices. I had many good friends, and met many back-stabing assholes. But all-in-all enjoyed my stay. Fare Winds & Following Seas Shipmates.

Hey ! I'm glad to see a page up and running. I have been contually searching for things on the old squadron. I rotated in during July '90, and was assigned as DCPO for our upcoming det to the Gulf. While in Fallon on Det, I failed my hearing examine and was eventually placed on medical hold at the end of our workup prior to deployment. I got medicalled out in June '91 and am now a police officer in Washington. I was not able to get photos of the squadron. . .publicity shots like the ones that were outside the CO's office on the second deck. If anyone has some that are available, or if the squadron still sells them, please let me know. . . I really miss being out there.!

Airframes 88-90. Since I beat ya here: Viray - Are the guys from McDonalds still making more than you? Manny - finally quit smoking (10years) thanks for that first butt!!!!! Hardman - You still scoring, without trying? Lindsey - Redheads Rule Aviado - Have you gone blind from all those movie rentals yet? Troli and Fitz - Do you limit mushroom intake to salads only.... these days? S13 - What's new in Biwabik? Thought so :-< If I missed ya, sorry it's been 8 years. To Whom it may concern, I'm an aviation photographer from New York. I have worked with the unit before (I did an article on VF-24 for Air Combat & a photo spread in The Hook) Anyway, I am working on a large coffee -table book on the Navy Strike & Air Warfare Center as well as naval air. I will be using several air to air pictures of the units F-14's and would like to add the squadrons zapper and F-14 shoulder patch. How do I go about ordering these from the coffee mess. Thanks, Rick

Nice site. I hope to see more content soon. I was in the Renegade AQ shop from '80 to '83 and left in the middle of the awful "deathpac" cruise on the Ranger. I'm surprised there is no mention that VF-24 lost a plane in '82 on the Connie and kept their safe flight record intact. I was a flight deck troubleshooter the day the CO and my branch officer ( not XO of VF-211) ejected after a three wire failure.

Great looking web page! When will all the selections be up for browsing and who are you (VF Project Team)? I was with the Renegades during '91 Desert Storm cruise during the time of CO CDR Bill "Cookie" Cook and XO CDR Ted "T-Bear" Carson along with Tuco, Ozzie(Chopper), Spicoli, Sloro(Chunx), Fish, Coyote, Paddy, Pads, Cracker and many others. I am currently a Reservist with the VF-201 "HUNTERS" at NAS Fort Worth, TX. Also in VF-201 with me are CDR Tom "CLOD" Engle (Currently the XO), LCDR Gary "Gabby" Hetzel, LT Jesse "TUCO" Guerrero, and LT Ted "CRACKER" Graham all of whom have worn the Renegade colors. Feel free to contact me if you need some historic info from the '91 cruise or the period just before and after it. RAGE ON! BUGS
Greetings! My name is Mike Kent, and I am 14 years old, and I dream today to be a pilot tomorrow. I was wondering if there was I chance I could get a VF-24 Fighting Renegades patch/crest/badge from someone. Thank you very much, and you have a great website, with a lot of great graphics. Mike Kent
