Now live in Red Oak, TX. I served in VF32 from 1974 until 1977 as an AE. We (along with our sister squadron, VF14) received the first F14A aircraft on the east coast in '74 at NAS Oceana (Va. Beach). Our first Med Cruise deployment with the F14 took place in '75 onboard the USS John F. Kennedy. There were a lot of good friends and memories made during that time which will always be with me. Glad to see the website!

Coy, Robert D. AVCM (Ret)

Hello Shipmates, It's great to see the Swordsmen on the web. I've been out a couple of years now. I retired in '80 … that's 1980. I reported to VF32 on July the 5th 1960. CRD Christiansen was skipper and CDR Lofton was XO. They were flying F-8's. I was flying pots and pans on the second deck with the other mess cooks. After two years in VF32, I was banished to A6's for several years. In the early 70's … that would be the 1970's I returned to VF32 as a Senior and later Master Chief. Al Fancher was the CO and Jerry Knutson was XO. We had F-4's when I first arrived and later, after a Med deployment, we transitioned to F-14's. I have held most every job in the squadron from mess cook to MCPOC. The Swordsmen spirit lives on. A squadron picture hangs in my office at Orbital Science Corporation. Pictures of Al Fancher, Rodney Volker, Perry Clark, Art Frederickson and some of the "really old" crew is there too. My best to you all and may God be with you. Robert D. Coy AVCM (Ret) Manager, Quality Assurance Orbital Science Corp. Gernamtown, Maryland 1-800-831-6739
