The A-6 Intruder is one of the most charismatic aircraft to ever enter US Navy service. While no one would call it classically beautiful, it has earned a place in the hearts of many Naval Aviators. First flown by VA-75 "The Sunday Punchers" in 1963 it is very fast approaching the end of it's Navy career. The last two squadrons, VA-196 "Main Battery" and VA-75, will both disestablish on the 28th of February 1997, leaving the Navy with no dedicated attack airframe in the inventory. Although no one denies the F/A-18's multi-role capablities will in part fill the gap left by the A-6 there will be no true replacement of the Intruder, the Navy having decided that its capabilites are no longer needed or affordable.
As with the other pages I will put up as many images of the A-6 as I can find, so any A-6 images will be gratefully received.
