F-14 Accident & Crash Reports

On this and subsequent pages you will find a number of accident reports involving F-14 Tomcats. It's definitely not a complete list of all F-14 accidents or losses, but as complete as possible! The accident and crash reports, BuNos and dates are taken from US Navy publications and magazines and from the book F-14 Tomcat Squadrons of the US Navy.

The photo to the right shows BuNo 159588 after its wreckage was recovered. On 14.09.1976 the VF-32 F-14A was lost when it inadvertently taxied off USS John F. Kennedy while operating in the North Sea off Scotland. The problem was that it carried not only its advanced electronics, but also brand new AIM-54 Phoenix missiles. Therefore the wreckage plus missiles were recovered so that it all could not fall into the wrong hands. Photo: US Navy
